I’m still a twenty-three year old. Yet, everyone around me is constantly thinking about being successful, getting rich & competing in a run towards infinite greed.

They want to get rich fast.

They want to be able to afford a house.

They want a job with a stable high pay income.

I’m not blaming them; after all, we’re bred to think that way. The first thing we’re told after we graduate is to work our assess off so we can live a luxurious life. What if I didn’t do any of that?

What if I wanted to learn more? About myself, about the world? Maybe all I really want is to have fun experiencing new things, live a fun filled life. People force things upon us and expect us to agree on what they think is right. They expect us to be fully responsible even though we’re still young.

I’ve spent way too many hours thinking about my future, thinking about where I’ll be, rather than where I am now. I’m done living life for someone else. From now on, I’ve decided to simply be “me”.

What’s that? You’re making millions? Great, good for you. I’m still learning.

There’s an enormous amount of pressure that’s put on us. To find our soulmates, to earn & “be successful.” Today is the day we say no. Today is the day we live based on what we believe in.

We will strive to be free.

We will do things we believe in.

We will do things we want.

Personally, I want to live life by my own values, rather than succumb to yours. To be more mindful, to fail and get back up are the essential things in life. It’s all a part of the journey.

From now on, I’m not going to chase the future, I’m simply going to enjoy the present.
